1. Mom and dad were living at the southeast corner of Main and 19th in Humboldt until the fall of '42. He left for the service in January, 1943. He had received his draft notice two days before Christmas in '42. They're pictured here at the side entrance to the apartment they rented from the minister of the Methodist church, a Brother Newbill. Newbill died in about September of '42, and they had to move out of the apartment they had had for perhaps six years. They moved across Main to a little white house on 19th, just behind the Adams house on Main.
