1. John Clinton Barrett (b. Feb 19, 1853 or '55) was probably the son of Thomas (b. ca 1825) and Sarah (b. ca 1825) of Hawkins County, TN. He had a brother Samuel (b. ca 1868 and died in Phoenix, AZ on January 11, 1944.) along with some other siblings. [FOR MORE INFO ON SAMUEL BARRETT SEE THE LAST PHOTOS IN THIS GALLERY.] John married Sarah Elizabeth Baldwin (daughter of William Carroll and Elizabeth Brooks Baldwin) about 1875 and lived in Hancock County, TN with four children: Mary (1876-1962), Betty (1877-1951), Eliza (1880-1960) and William'Bud' (1882-1964). In August, 1885 they sold their place north of the Clinch River and east of Sneedville, TN and moved to southern Missouri where they homesteaded northwest of Gainesville. Along with them on the migration was Sarah's mother, and her brothers Arthur Y., Lewis M. and James Arthur Baldwin and their families. Also, Sarah's sister, Mary Catherine Baldwin Allen and her husband, Thomas, came along. Tom Allen was a cousin to John Clinton Barrett, besides being his brother-in-law.
