1. This was the 3rd and last article I wrote for the West Plains Gazette. It was a remembrance piece on my Aunt Temple and Uncle John Barr, who ran a popular cafe in downtown West Plains in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. We ate there often when my family visited West Plains. I always ordered the hamburger. Sometimes my Aunt Maxine and Aunt Helen helped out in the kitchen. Those were GREAT Days! And fortunately, one of my older cousins, Dail Allen, got to be on the cover with an old friend of his. Such a great photo. This was taken on Dail and Dorothy's front porch. Dail was my second cousin, once removed. His grandfather, Tom Allen, was a cousin and brother-in-law to my great grandfather, John C. Barrett.
