1. Mollie E. Wells was born in West Plains in 1877. Her husband was Arthur A. Tupper, who worked as a bartender in the 1910 census, when they were living on S. Campbell St in Springfield. The census indicated they had married about 1904. I have the date Aug 6, 1904 in my poorly written notes, and it may refer to their marriage date. From Howell County records, I found that a Mollie E. Wells, younger than 18 years old, married a man named Harry B. Knowlton on May 12, 1898.
NOTE: In several lists of the Wells children are mentioned a Mary E., born about 1876, and an Ettie or Etta. Both of these names may in fact be Mollie E. Wells. Her "E" initial could have been for Etta, and Mollie is often a nickname for Mary. However, in my notes, I show Etta was married to a man named Ax or Axe, so she may in fact be a separate person. I've just never been able to find any record of her in the census records, and her mother's obituary of 1928 doesn't mention her.
